Dry Hair

Dry hair is a common problem. The extreme weather of summer usually only makes the problem worse. It’s important that you take special care to moisturize and protect dry hair. Hair usually has a moisture content of approximately ten percent. If your hair’s moisture content drops below that level, the key is to increase the ability of the hair to attract and retain moisture. This is done by using good quality moisturizing products. One good thing to look for in products is “humectants” that replace lost moisture, as well as attract moisture and help to retain it in the cortex of the hair. Find products that include ingredients like safflower oil, like Nexxus KerapHIX Reconstructor. This will help to ensure that your dry hair will have the proper amount of humectants to retain and attract moisture. A little bit goes a long way.

Dry hair can be helped by using a very good quality shampoo and conditioner. Try the Nexxus Phyto Organics line, or the Nexxus VitaTress line. Another good line of moisturizing hair care products for dry hair is Redken Clear Moisture, or Pureology Hydrate line. These lines will all help to restore and retain moisture in your dry hair, so that you can have soft, beautiful hair. Keeping hair well moisturized will also help to reduce frizz, and make your hair more manageable and easier to style. When you style, also try to stick with products that will help moisturize your hair. Choosing products specially formulated for dry hair, like KMS or Nexxus styling products for dry hair, will help to retain the moisture balance that you need. If you’re using products that are not formulated for dry hair, you could be contributing to the dryness even more.
