Beat Winter Hair Woes

Winter weather does awful things to your hair, but there are some measures you can take to help you beat the winter hair woes.

One of the worst winter hair problems is static electricity. Dry heat from your furnace, and cold windy weather leach the moisture right out of your hair, and leave you with crispy, crackling hair that flies up like you had your finger in a light socket. To beat this winter hair nuisance, lock in your moisturizing conditioner by adding a light misting of Fresh Concepts Whey Better Leave-In Conditioner.

When cold weather comes, many people delay getting their hair trimmed on a regular basis. As your hair grows, the ends tend to become frayed and brittle. To repair ragged winter hair, see your stylist and get trims every 6-8 weeks to stay in tip top condition.

Winter is not the best time to chemically treat your hair. Harsh perms and peroxide based colorants only exacerbate dry winter hair troubles. Have your perm or coloring done in the fall, and if you must refresh your color in the winter, avoid permanent coloring and go with a less harsh temporary coloring product. Your winter hair problems will be far less noticeable.

Winter hair problems plague all of us from time to time, no matter what our hair texture is. By choosing salon quality hair care products, avoiding excessive blow drying and ironing, and keeping up with your trims, you will be able to beat those winter hair problems before they beat you.

Hair Texture Care Tips

Knowing how to care for your individual hair texture can help you keep your locks in the best condition possible. You wouldn't want to use a dry hair conditioner on oily hair, or an oily hair shampoo on damaged tresses, would you? Well, read on and we'll give you tips for dealing with different types of hair texture.

Normal Hair Texture

Congratulations, this is the easiest hair texture to manage. Shampoo every other day at the most, and just rinse with water on days in between if you want to fluff back up. Use a light conditioner such as Formulas Ecoly Sage Weightless Conditioner & Detangler, go easy with the blow dryer and you should be able to maintain your healthy hair texture quite easily.

Oily Hair Texture

Shampoo every day if you honestly need it with a product for oily hair texture like Formulas Ecoly Cucumber Oily Hair Shampoo. Condition lightly and rinse thoroughly. Blow dry on medium heat to avoid frying your hair texture.

Dry/Damaged Hair Texture

Try not to shampoo more than three times a week to avoid stripping natural oils from your hair texture. Use a deep conditioner like Formulas Ecoly Intense Hair Repair Protein Reconstructor. Avoid blow drying when at all possible to avoid further damage to your hair texture. Let air dry as long as possible and just use a cool air setting towards the end.

Curly Hair Texture

To keep your curls from frizzing out, use a moisturizing shampoo and a conditioner like Formulas Ecoly Sage Weightless Conditioner & Detangler. Don't shampoo unless you absolutely have to and avoid a blow dryer like the plague. Use a pick or wide tooth comb to untangle your hair after washing, then let air dry as long as possible. Only use a dryer with a diffuser if you must use one at all to keep your curly hair texture from doing the wild thing.

We hope these tips will make it easier to care for your own hair texture.

How To Build Hair Volume To Fine Hair

Did you know that you can build hair volume into your fine locks and make them look fabulous? It's true. All you need is a blow dryer and a salon quality volume building hair gel, and you can build hair volume into your tresses in the time it takes to blow dry after shampooing.

We recommend a super volumizing styling gel like ARTec Kiwi Blow Up Volume. A salon grade product like this can really build hair volume and density into normally limp hair. Here's how.

Begin to build hair volume by washing your hair with Artec Textureline Volume Shampoo and Conditioner. These products are terrific choices to set the stage before we attempt to build hair volume with the ARTec gel.

Gently towel the hair dry to remove most, but not all of the water. Now we are ready to build hair volume just like the super models do.

Take a dollop of styling gel about the size of a nickel and rub it across your finger tips, avoiding your palms. Now flip your hair over upside down and begin brushing your fingers through your hair near the root base. Do not draw the gel completely through the length of the strands, or it will add too much weight to sufficiently build hair volume.

Now, with your head still hanging upside down, begin to build hair volume into your fine hair by blow drying the root area first. Since your hair is technically standing on end, the gel will build hair volume by stiffening slightly as it dries, helping your fine hair to stand up slightly away from your scalp.

Once your hair is dry, just flip it back over and wella! Full gorgeous hair. Now you know the way to build hair volume into fine, limp locks.
